- A single-event invitation with an early start. Griha Pravesh muhurats are frequently at dawn, so the timing must be unmissable and the address exact — the house is new, and guests have never been there.
Who invites whom
The family moving in, inviting relatives, neighbours and close friends.
Timing & dates
Two to three weeks. Because the muhurat is often very early, tell guests both the muhurat time and a realistic arrival time.
2026–27 date guidance
Griha Pravesh is strictly muhurat-driven, with auspicious dates concentrated in particular months and avoided entirely in others. The Nov–Dec 2026 window carries muhurats from 11 November through late December. Kharmas, 16 December 2026 to 14 January 2027, is avoided. Confirm the exact muhurat with your family's purohit.

A propitiation of the nine planets, performed in many families.

Kalash Sthapana & Milk Boilingपाल காய்ச்சல்
A kalash is carried into the house and milk is boiled over until it overflows, signifying abundance. Known as paal kaachal in Tamil households.

The fire ritual performed in the new home.
Satyanarayan Kathaसत्यनारायण कथा
Often performed alongside or following the Griha Pravesh puja.
